Enough – Actions Speak Louder Than Words

I just finished watching a segment on AIG and how they had the audacity to take $165 million dollars in bailout money to reward their top executives for a job well done. I’m sure you can detect a hint of sarcasm and are probably thinking that I am going to bash AIG (rightly so); however, in this case you would be wrong.

I am more upset with the government enabling these crooks to walk away with more taxpayers’ money. what makes me sick is that EVERYONE knows that funds from the bailout (which I was totally against in the first place) were misused and those responsible are not being punished.

Here are some of the comments from government officials expressing their outrage:

Illinois Congressman Mark Kirk said, AIG should not be on welfare from Uncle Sam, and yet paying bonuses and transferring a considerable amount of taxpayer funds to entities overseas.

Illinois Senator Dick Durbin said, I’ve had it. The fact that they continue to do it while we pour in billions of dollars is undefensible.

President Obama said, It’s hard to understand how derivative traders at AIG warranted any bonuses, much less $165 million in extra pay.

I am sick of the tough guy talk–actions speak louder than words. The comments I hear coming from government officials give the appearance as if they can’t do anything about recouping the money that was stolen from Americans. Yes, you can. if you were foolish enough to give funds to these fools not once, not twice, but four times than it is your responsibility to track down every penny that was given to companies like AIG.

Those who work in the government have the ability to put a stop to this madness. You have the evidence and know who the culprits are so what are you going to do to ensure that these criminals are brought to justice? Scolding them is not enough. these people deserve to be in jail because the last time I checked-embezzlement is crime. Putting these people in jail will demonstrate to the American people that you are serious about not tolerating any further mismanagement of government funds and deter other companies from following in AIG’s footsteps.

In the event that I am fortunate to have this post make it into the hands of a government official, my comment expressing outrage would be, The ball is in your court so why don’t you shoot for those of us who aren’t in a position to take the shot for you
