The Chris Christie Endorsement of Mitt Romney

Chris Christie has endorsed Mitt Romney in the Republican Primary. We can only assume that doom and despair will follow.

Both men are paragons in Republican virtue. Mitt Romney is a candidate who revises his books between revisions to win over undecided voters. He’s a man who has helped inspire Obama’s healthcare policy. his image is as malleable as his hair. as for Chris Christie, he is foul-mouthed and clumsy, and after revelations that came to light when Christie was primed to run for president, not much of a conservative.

Both men are certainly representative of America’s ruling class. Romney is plastic, fake, and wins crowds over through carefully crafted buzz phrases and a mass-produced charisma. Christie seems genuine, however inarticulate.

Following the endorsement, the Romney campaign sent an email to supporters on behalf of Christie claiming that this was the most important election in generations. Just like the last one Romney ran in, and every election a candidate has stood for office since the first of the elections. We dare say that it would be unpopular to admit that this election, like so many others, will do little to avert the upcoming disaster.

No president, no Congressman, no new Jersey governor, no human being can stand in the way of the awesome collapse that is upon us. National Bankruptcy is the price that must be paid for Moral Bankruptcy. The system of bribes, schemes, and lies cannot stand forever. now, it seems that we can no longer postpone what generations before us decided we would have to face. no politician can create jobs any more than they can stand in the way of an almost supernatural storm.

National Bankruptcy is the ultimate liquidation process. Darkness must cede to light, lies to truth, and corruption to honest trade. The current system propagates itself by printing paper and calling it money. It exists solely as long as people have faith in the US government. when that faith truly and fully falters, the paper becomes worthless and the government defaults on its obligations.

As Republicans attempt to persuade the Occupy Wall Street protesters to fuel their rage against the politicians, they should be careful that people don’t really lose faith in the politicians. If they do, the entire system falls apart and the election really will cease to be relevant.

National Bankruptcy is the ultimate penalty for bad government. It’s nothing specific to us, it’s the penalty for continuous bad government. It only, as Thomas Carlyle taught us, falls on the dumbest person who can’t pawn it off on anyone else.

Pat Buchanan Out: People Respond Online

After he served ten years as an analyst, MSNBC has shown Pat Buchanan the door.

Protests have gone on for years about Buchanan’s statements and perceived racism. Buchanan maintains that this is all a conspiracy by the left to have him ousted. And, there were coordinated and concerted efforts to petition and pressure MSNBC to can him.

Most who are happy to see him go can recite certain statements that Buchanan has made over the years, including:

  • “The decline in academic test scores here at home and in international competition is likely to continue, as more and more of the children taking those tests will be African-American and Hispanic.”
  • “[The decline of the Jewish population in America] is a result of the collective decision of Jews themselves. From Betty Friedan to Gloria Steinem in the 1970s to Ruth Bader Ginsburg today, Jewish women have led the battle for abortion rights. The community followed.”
  • “Through history, all the great religions have condemned homosexuality and all the great nations have proscribed or punished it. none ever placed homosexual liaisons on the same plane as traditional marriage, which is the bedrock institution of any healthy society.”
  • “If we do not get control of our borders, by 2050 Americans of European descent will be a minority in the nation their ancestors created and built.”
  • Upon news of his firing, people took to Twitter to express glee or outrage, depending on their lean:

Shame on MSNBC for firing @PatrickBuchanan. another step backward from real debate on cable “news”: thebea.st/yPZkjk

    — Andrew Sullivan (@sullydish) February 17, 2012

oh good, pat buchanan gives conservatives another opportunity to explain the first amendment right to a tv pundit job.

    — Oliver Willis (@owillis) February 17, 2012

Pat Buchanan should STFU. People heard you and voted no. It’s the risk ALL of us take when we express opinions. go scream on a street corner

    — Lizz Winstead (@lizzwinstead) February 17, 2012

We thank everyone who contributed to @MSNBC ending its relationship with Pat Buchanan and the hateful, outdated ideas he represents.

    — ColorOfChange.org (@ColorOfChange) February 17, 2012

MSNBC felt having one token Right leaning person like Pat Buchanan on the air gave the GOP an unfair advantage in discussions.

    — Tooth Fairy Denier (@FunkynFortunate) February 17, 2012

Pat Buchanan is like Benedict Arnold, but without the charm and grace

    — Jon Hartmann(@jonhartmannjazz) February 17, 2012

It’s more than a little bit remarkable that Pat Buchanan lasted 10 years at MSNBC.

    — Adam Wagner (@AdamWagner1990) February 17, 2012

The only thing shocking about Pat Buchanan leaving MSNBC is he was billed as “analyzing” anything.

    — Jared James (@count_01) February 17, 2012

Pat Buchanan dropped from MSNBC. It must’ve been hard for him to find a spot to park his horse and buggy when he came to work everyday.

    — Sabine Mariano (@TweetEverstrong) February 17, 2012

With Pat gone from MSNBC, what will happen to the Florida voting juggernaut that is Jews for Buchanan? we came so close in 2000,

    — Boo Radley (@BernardRieux68) February 17, 2012

I didn’t agree with Pat #Buchanan, but found him to be interesting. if he was racist and anti-semitic, he didn’t express those ideas on TV

The Friday Morning Rush for Feb. 17, 2012

    CINCINNATI – It’s Friday, Feb. 17, 2012:

NKU 67, KENTUCKY WESLEYAN 55: we don’t pay enough attention to the Norse of NKU, who have had a great basketball program for years, and they’ll head to Division I in the future.  But they got a big win last night when they beat the no. 13 Division II team in the country. NKU is ranked 15th. Eshaunte Jones scored 15 points, while Chad Jackson and DeAndre Nealy each added eleven points. It’s the 20th win for NKU.

NEXT: no. 11 Southern Indiana comes to the Bank of Kentucky Center to face NKU Saturday at 3 p.m. Southern Indiana beat top-ranked Bellarmine on Thursday night.

    THE COLLEGE BASKETBALL SCOREBOARD:

Michigan State 69, Wisconsin 55…..the Spartans have won six of their last seven games.

Florida State 48, Virginia Tech 47…Seminoles on a three-pointer with two seconds left.

    West Virginia 66, Pitt 48

NC State 78, Duke 73……Duke trailed by 20 points in the second half.

TOO LOUD IN EAST LANSING: in the Michigan State win, the fans were extremely loud. in fact, there were a number of times that Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan tried to yell at official Mike Sanzere. But Sanzere says he couldn’t hear Ryan over the crowd noise.

THE WOMEN’S GAME: NKU women won their game at Kentucky Wesleyan 69-66. Casse Mogan scored 26 points and scored the go-ahead basket at the four minute mark.  It’s the 19th win for NKU.

ELMIRA 3, CYCLONES 1:  Elmira scored twice in the third period for the win before 2,374 at US Bank Arena. the Cyclones remain home for tonight’s 7:30 game against Kalamazoo.

THE “KID”: Gary Carter was one of those baseball players that played with enthusiasm, smiled all the time, and genuinely seemed to enjoy playing baseball.  it wasn’t an act.  That’s the way Carter was. He was an 11-time All-Star and a three-time Gold Glove winner.  He died Thursday at age 57.

A TRUE TALENT: Carter played 19 years in the majors with the Expos, Mets, Giants and Dodgers. He was the first player to go into the Baseball Hall of Fame with an Expos cap on his plaque.

CLUTCH: Carter helped take the Expos to the postseason in 1981 and he hit .429 with two homers, four doubles and six rbi’s. in 1986, he had two homers and nine rbi’s when the Mets won the World Series. He was also named MVP of the All-Star games in 1981 and 1984.

MEDIA FRIENDLY: When Carter was at the top of his game in the early 80′s, I went to the visitor’s clubhouse at Riverfront Stadium and asked if he could do an interview.  He came out to the waiting area and we talked on camera for several minutes. not a fake. Very gracious.

THE RETURN: Website MLBTradeRumors.com says the Reds are going to sign pitcher Brett Tomko to a minor league contract.  Tomko was the Reds top draft pick in 1995.  He pitched here from 1997-99 and was part of the deal that brought Ken Griffey Junior to the Reds.

TALKIN’ BASEBALL: I taped an extensive interview with Reds General Manager Walt Jocketty before he departed for Spring Training. We’ll air that interview Sunday night on Meijer Sports of All Sorts at 11:35 p.m. Pitchers and catchers report to Goodyear, Arizona on Sunday.

HERE WE GO AGAIN: Phil Mickelson who rallied to win Sunday at Pebble Beach, has the first round lead at the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. He chipped in from 35 feet away on the 18th hole for a 5-under par 66.  He leads J.B Holmes by a stroke.

Have a great weekend….I’ll see you Sunday night,
